Summary:

A boy is happy to stay inside on a rainy day and build with his blocks.  His sofa becomes the mountains, his carpet the sea, and a great palace rises up, complete with towers, steps, kings and queens.  Ships go sailing and bring sailors to and from the city by the sea.  When the boy decides he is done, his dog helps him lay his city low.

Block City is taken from A Child’s Garden of Verses, written by Scottish poet Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-189).  The beautiful illustrations of the book coupled with the rhyming verse will have readers using their imagination to build vibrant block cities of their own.  Share this classic and spark invention and creativity.
