Violet the Pilot

Title: Violet the Pilot

Author: Steve Breen

Summary:

Violet Van Winkle has been building and tinkering since she was young. She lives in an odd-looking house next to her father’s junkyard, which she searches to find parts for her creations. She has an interest in building things that fly and one day she sees a poster for the Air Show. She wants to win a prize at the Air Show in hopes that it will make her classmates be nicer to her. Violet builds a grand plane and flies to the Air Show with her dog, Orville. Along the way, they fly over a Boy Scout troop trapped in a river. She saves the troop and safely delivers the boys to the hospital, but misses the Air Show. Later in the evening, she is visited by the press, kids from school, and even the mayor who presents her with a medal of valor.
