Title:  A Fine Dessert:  Four Centuries, Four Families, One Delicious Treat

Author: Emily Jenkins and Sophie Blackall

Follow four different families throughout four different centuries making the same wonderful dessert.  With the holiday season approaching, it is a great time to share this sweet story with those you love.  A girl and her mother picked blackberries three hundred years ago.  The mother milked a cow and skimmed the cream off, whipping it with a bundle of twigs. After drawing water from a well, washing the berries and squashing them, they chill the mixture in the hillside that is packed with winter ice.  What are they making?  How do the tools and the process of making this special treat change throughout time?  Read A Fine Dessert, and find out.  Make your own dessert with the recipe included in the story.
